Dysphagia is a condition that affects people's ability to eat, drink and swallow. In May 2020, a Competency Framework outlining the skills and knowledge required for Health and Social Care staff was published. Everyone working in Health and Social Care need to understand what dysphagia is and the signs and symptoms of this.
Depending on whether you support someone who is elderly or who has a learning disability, there is also guidance.
Please make sure as well as completing the e-learning and watching the video 'What Makes A Good Meal', you also read the appropriate Guidance, for the service user group you are working with. It may be that you need to read both. You can always refer back to these documents at any time.
