A4 Manual Handling Risk Assessment
Manual Handling Risk Assessment
What is a risk assessment? A risk assessment is a careful examination of what in your workplace could cause harm to people so that preventative measures can be put in place to make a situation as safe as possible for all concerned.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations (MHOR) provides the framework for the risk assessment process for manual handling activities.
This requires employers to:
Avoid the need for hazardous manual handling.
Assess the risk of injury from any hazardous manual handling that can’t be avoided.
Reduce the risk of injury, to a reasonably expectable level.
Review the risk assessment regularly and make sure it stays up to date.
